What is Visual Programming?

Visual Programming is what makes Multimedia Fusion work. It basis is to allow you to create everything you need by just using the mouse. The software is built out of two main editors:

Here you visually place and position all of the elements of your game or application (the characters, counters, strings of text etc.) using your mouse.
You set up the properties for each of your objects in this editor by using your mouse to click on check-boxes or selecting choices from drop down menus.

A true Visual Programming interface.
The program that drives your application is presented to you in the form of a grid (similar to a spreadsheet). You enter the different events (conditions and actions) that make your application work into the grid by choosing options presented to you in pop up menus. At no time do you need to enter a single line of code. This approach to programming is very simple to understand, but also very fast powerful. You can have the basics of your application entered in just a few clicks.

MochiAds

Multimedia Fusion 2 includes MochiAds (www.mochimedia.com) an online advertisement system that you can integrate in your applications. Once you have created your Mochi account, you just select one check box, enter the ID of your game, and Mochi advertisement are included automatically in your application. You can choose to have Mochi ads at the begining, in the middle or at the end of your application. Once you game or application is published on the net, each time a user sees your advertisement, you make money.

The SWF engine used in Multimedia Fusion 2 is highly optimised, allowing you to create very complex games with hundreds of objects moving on the screen, parallax scrolling, rapid shots etc. You can also use as many sounds as you want on 32 different sound channels. The Multimedia Fusion 2 SWF engine is also very small, only adding 280Kb to your application which is already very compressed by the Adobe Flash file format itself. Because of its small size the Multimedia Fusion 2 SWF engine is also ideal for creating SWF banners.

When you run in to any problems with your development, you can always ask your questions in one of our friendly forums. An answer usually comes back within half a day, sometimes even sooner. Multimedia Fusion 2 also contains a Java runtime engine. Java is a cross-platform programming language, running on PC, Mac and many other platforms. With The Games Factory 2 and Multimedia Fusion 2 you can create Java Applets (Internet applications). With Multimedia Fusion 2 Developer you can create Applets, Java standalone applications as well as Mobile Phone Java applications that will work on any Java enabled Mobile Phone (which is 99% of current handsets).

  • Allows you to build SWF files for Adobe Flash Player with MMF/TGF.
  • Sounds are automatically compressed MP3.
  • Ability to include a preloader screen:
    - TGF2: image progress bar.
    - MMF2: image customizable progress bar customizable.
    - MMF2 Developer: image and progress bar is customizable, or other application MMF (single).
  • Option to include MochiAds in your SWF file at the beginning or the end of the application, or between scenes.
  • Includes Flash Player object which allows you to send commands for JavaScript, open a URL, retrieve HTML settings, etc.
  • FLV Object included that allows you to play FLV files in an application SWF.

Limitations and differences with standalone applications PC

  • The apps run SWF applications in a black box, they do not have access to the system can not load or save files.
  • Properties in the flash runtime that are disabled:
    - You can not change the window style and applications do not have a menu.
    - You can not switch to full screen and the option to resize the display window size is disabled.
    - The "speed independent of the machine is disabled.
    - The scenes have no transitions and objects have only one type of transition (Fade).
    - Half the runtime properties of the scenes are disabled, because not useful in the Flash Player.
    - A single purpose ink for objects, the semi-transparency.
  • Events in the flash runtime that are disabled:
    - MIDI music files are not supported by Flash Player.
    - You can not play sound files (only sound internal application).
    - You can not save or load the game position.
    - You can not clear the screen.
    - You can not change the frequency display in runtime (you can change it in properties).
  • Clicks the right mouse button can not be intercepted
  • You can not make holes in the mask of collisions
  • String objects are clipped vertically
  • Objects outside the scene may be visible
