Hi Folks.

Apologies again for the massive delay in getting Part 4 - Battle Systems completed. I certainly didn't think it would take this long to get out the door (it's another The Caretaker!!! LOL!!!). Anyway, quick update, I'm working on the last example file for the installment which is the Turn Based Battle System tutorial. At this point in time I'm implementing running the attacks each character can do and using inventory objects in the battle. I'm looking at getting Part 4 out this coming weekend.

Ive been where you ve been when it comes to announincing stuff. Take ClickTeam for example, neither do they give dates. For the sake of your reliablity, and of anyone announcing stuff, please make sure its done or just dont announce it. It ain't gonne help you finish it, or motivate you, when you announce a date. Its gonne get you in trouble. Someone said a while ago, Those that can, do, those that can't, talk about it. Basicly, it applies in this way, just finish it. Then announce its finished. Until then, just dont make promises you keep moving month after month. Wre not gonne eat your or something. So, with all respect and the best intentions, my advice.

I received an email asking about the next installment in the RPG tutorial, so after replying to the email, I decided to just post the same update here so keep everyone up to date.

I do agree, I'm not a fan of giving release dates, but I do find aiming for one can help to motivate and focus the mind. Still, it's a practice I don't generally do.

Er... Nope! That's not right. That's another day I'm expecting never to come! LOL!

Today I am delighted to say that Part 4 - Battle Systems, of the NightFall RPG Tutorial, has been released \:D. Sorry about such a massive delay in getting it out but I hope you find it worth the wait. This installment covers the creation of Battle Systems for your RPG's, and includes a much requested major update to the Final Fantasy Turn Based Battle System. The system is not hardcoded as the original was and is now flexible to accommondate any and all attack types and use of inventory items.

Now, one thing before you all go running over to nab a copy.
Eight years ago when I released my first RPG tutorial for TGF 1, upon release of part 4, battle systems, the TBBS provoked a lot of questions. My email inbox jumped up considerable for the first week after release. Back then, I didn't use comments in the Event Editor and all the coding was explained as part of the GF file. This time the Event Editor is heavily commented so it should help.

However, I am pushing back work on Part 5 of the NightFall RPG Tutorial for one week. Work will commence on it the second half of next week. Why am I doing this? Well, I want to see if this TBBS will have the same effect as the original and will provoke a ton of questions (email preferably, but you can post them here if you wish). If there is a simular response as last time and quite a lot of queries come in, then I will write up a companion document for the TBBS answering all the questions. This will, of course, push back work on part 5 of the tutorial even more, but I know that a lot of you are interested in TBBS's so I want to make understanding the creation of one as ease as I can.

Work on Part 5 has begun. The first four parts, Writing The Story, Movement, Inventory and Battle Systems, all required their own installments. The remaining installments of the NightFall RPG Tutorial will not be solo installments but will cover numerious topics. With the main bulk topics covered, it's just the smaller features left to do. I have no release date for Part 5 yet, but it won't take three months to get out ;\)! LOL!
