Isn't the idea of having a virtual frame size so you can have a large scrolling area without a large frame.

The Help file says this "Virtual Width: Very useful for huge scrolling games: defines the virtual width of the frame. A large virtual width allows you to scroll on a large surface, larger than the frame itself."

Again I don't usually use this so I'm not sure.

Yes MikeR,

but the use -1 in virtual frame allow you to use a small background a little bigger of the window and frame and repeating during the scrolling proccess.

Sorry FVivolo

I was refering to UrbanMonk's post about making the frame and virtual frame size the same. I see the -1 makes it an infinite size but you still fall through the platform unless you uncheck 'Handle background collisions...' in the Frame Properties

Hey Mike,

This is a quirky problem, and I've encountered it myself. What is even stranger is the resolution. All you need to do is add an empty layer underneath the layer that you already have.

Here's what I did to fix your file:

  • Opened it with MMF2.
  • Clicked on Frame 1.
  • Pressed Alt+K to open the Layers Toolbar.
  • Added an additional layer.
  • Dragged the new layer so that it was "beneath" the layer with objects. The objects layer now should be #2 and the empty layer #1.

That's it! You won't need to uncheck "Handle background collisions even out of window."

I've attached a fixed file.

Jess
